Pétanque is an enjoyable and social game for people of all ages than can be played with as few as two players, or as many as six.
Leeds Pétanque Club came into being in 2006 and is located in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey Park, just adjacent to the Vesper Gate pub, where a welcoming cold drink in summer or hot drink in winter are readily available. There is also free parking available in the Abbey Museum car park.
There are informal club sessions every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday and newcomers and visitors are always welcome! We’re a friendly, inclusive, and sociable group. If you haven’t played before, the best way to learn is by playing a game, so come along and join in. Other members will show you what to do, give you advice on the rules, and show you how to develop your skills and strategies. But, most important of all, HAVE FUN!!

We Play Socially

Join us for a social game at one of our club sessions.
If you’re new to the game, this is the ideal way to learn in a friendly and supportive environment.

We Play Seriously

In summer, Leeds Pétanque Club take part in two local leagues and other events where team members can take on other clubs in a more competitive environment.
Some of our players are qualified coaches, and even play at regional and national level!

We Have Fun!

Throughout the year there are a number of social events for members to meet and enjoy themselves.

So why not come along and give it a go? We welcome newcomers and visitors alike, regardless of whether you’ve played the game before. And don’t worry if you don’t have any boule… you’ll be able to borrow some to get you started.
