As we near the end of September, this Sunday sees the start of the Yorkshire Pétanque Winter League.
The Winter League is very informal and provides a great opportunity to meet other players from across the region and spend a fun day on some different terrains.
Matches are held in the Yorkshire area twice a month (always on a Sunday), with Huddersfield and Heckmondwike generally being the two closest venues to Leeds.
You don’t have to commit to the whole season and can simply enter the odd match as and when you feel like it. As the games are all doubles you just need a partner and a set of boule, and you’ll then be randomly drawn against five other teams on the day. As an extra incentive, each player contributes a small entry fee per match that then goes towards a cash prize pot for the top teams on the day!
You don’t have to be a member of Pétanque England or even Yorkshire Pétanque to take part, but you do need to register in advance. So, what are you waiting for? More information and the playing calendar for this season are now available on the Yorkshire Pétanque website, or just speak to any of the LP committee.
